A lovely sunny day saw a NICS team without Alan & Mansel Montgomery and Artie Rice took on a struggling PSNI on their own green
Rink 2 had John Mooney, Albert Preston, Derek Brown and Davy Hunter take on R McGarry, R Thompson, S Wilson and K McGarry. A tight game unfolded here with the score 5-7 at 5 ends and then 9-12 at 10 ends. The NICS boys pulled back to 14-15 at 15 ends and finished well to win 19-17.
Rink 3 saw Norman Shields, Chris Graham, JJ Leonard and Stanley Hegan face N Graham, D Doherty, M Livings and A Orr. A bad start for Foxy’s four saw the score 2-8 at 5 ends. The deficit remained at 6 as the score was 5-11 at 10 ends. The game changed in the next 5 ends as PSNI didn’t score while the NICS lads scored 12 to lead 17-11 at 15 ends. Foxy maintained the lead over the run in and won 22-17.
Rink 4 had M De Conink, Michael Bell, I Hutton and Brian Leonard take on G Porter, J McIlrath, G Rankin and J Allen. Brian’s rink got off to great start leading 7-0 at 5 ends to be pegged back slightly to lead 9-5 at 10 ends. The NICS rink won 4 of the next 5 ends, but dropped a 5 and led 18-10 at 15 ends. The NICS rink remained in control in the run in and won 23-14.
Rink 5 saw Geoff McKinney, Billy McCullough, Derek Forsythe and Freddie Murdock face A Graham, D Wasson, J Corry and Paddy Franks. Only a 5 in the fifth end kept the score close for NICS as they trailed 7-5 at 5 ends. The PSNI rink extended their lead making it 11-7 at 10 ends. The deficit remained and the score was 14-10 in PSNI’s favour. Freddies’ four rallied winning 5 of the 6 last ends and won the game 17-15.
