Last match before the holiday break saw Castleton visit Stormont.
Rink 2 had Derek Forsythe, Billy McCullough, Mansel Montgomery and Davy Hunter take on W Bowes, J Cruthers, B McCullough and A Adair. An even start saw the score 4 each after 5 ends. it remained tight at 10 ends with the visitors leading 10-9. Unfortunately the home rink could only win 4 more ends and score 4 shots while Castleton scored 19. The final score was 13-29.
Rink 3 saw Norman Shields, Chris Graham, JJ Leonard and Stanley Hegan face B Gillespie, E Flack, P Evans and V Atkinson. A tight start saw teh score 3-4 after 5 ends. Fexy's four got going and led 10-6 after 10 ends. Their domination continued and the visitors only scored 1 more shot, finishing 30-7.
Rink 4 had Mark De Conink, Ronnie McDermott, Ian Hutton and Brian Leonard take on D Shaw, W Jackson, R Carson and B Magill. Another close start saw the score 7-6 after 10 ends. The lead increased mainkly through a 4 in the 12th end and the lead was 13-9 at 15 ends. The NICS rink finished strongly with old stager Ronnie McDermott ditching the jack with 4 against. Brian drew in an additional 2 to lift 3. The boys hammered home the advantage lifting a 5 and 3 on the next ends. the final score was 27-14.
Rink 5 saw John Mooney, Albert Preston, Artie Rice and Freddie Murdock challenge I McKinvin, A Robinson, J Newell and T Brown. A 5 in the 3rd end helped the home rink lead 9-3 after 5. In fact the visitors only won 1 end in the first 10 and trailed 20-3. The scoring was more even in the remainder of teh game with the final score 33-14.
